My book review is on “The Power of Now” written by Eckhart
Tolle. The book is based on the idea that you do not need to bother about the
past or worry about the future but live life in the present moment.
His most famous quote from the book is “Realize deeply that
the present moment is all you have. Make the NOW the primary focus of your
life”.
Here are three lessons from the book that would help you
worry and regret less.
1.
Life is just a series of present moments: Focus
only on the present because that is all you have, never worry about the past or
the future
2.
Pain comes from the things you cannot change: Since
you live only in the present there is a pain that comes from not being able to
control the past or predict how the future would be so there is an anger that
comes along with it but we have to note that this is all in our heads and it is
no real emotion.
3.
Free yourself from the pain by not judging your
thoughts: There are two tools you can use here, which is asking yourself what
your next thought would be, this creates a delay in the thought pattern and the
second tool is that you listen to all nagging thoughts but try not to judge
yourself but listen to It and not act on it.
