The secrets of power negotiating is a very interesting read. The author outlined some key points which I would share below.
1. You can employ a wide range of strategic moves known as gambits, this would greatly increase your chances of success in a negotiation
2. In the beginning of the negotiation, you can establish a favorable negotiating range by asking for more than you expect, flinching or acting like a reluctant buyer or seller
3. In the middle of the negotiation you can get closer to the outcome by applying techniques such as hiding behind a higher authority, using trade-off and set-aside gambits.
4. Remember that money is money so that means that thinking of money in absolute numbers instead of percentages does a greater deal when you think about it
